Adding Audio

Freemake Video Converter provides tools for adding audio to a slideshow, and for changing the audio in a video file.

Adding Audio to a Photo

To play audio when displaying a picture or series of pictures, use Freemake's Photo Slideshow feature.

Adding audio to a slideshow

  1. Click the Play Slideshow icon on the right side of the page.

    The Photo Slideshow window appears.
  2. At the bottom of the window, you'll see the text "Audio track none." Click "none" and select "Browse…" from the contextual menu that appears. Now you can choose an audio file to add to your slideshow.
  3. Browse to the directory where your audio file is saved, then click the file name and click Open.
  4. Click the OK button in the bottom-right of the Photo Slideshow window.
  5. Back in the main window, the name of your audio file now appears in your slideshow description.
  6. To play your slideshow and hear the audio you added, click the Play Slideshow icon on the right side of the page.

Adding Audio to a Video

  1. Click the +Video button at the top of the page. Now you can choose an video file to work with.
  2. Browse to the directory where your video file is saved, then click the file name and click Open.
  3. The video file is listed in the main window, including its audio characteristics.

    Click the text that describes the audio track, and select Add Audio… Now you can choose an audio file to work add.
  4. Browse to the directory where your audio file is saved, then click the file name and click Open.

Removing Audio From a Video

  1. Click the +Video button at the top of the page. Now you can choose an video file to work with.
  2. Browse to the directory where your video file is saved, then click the file name and click Open.
  3. The video file is listed in the main window, including its audio characteristics.

    Click the text that describes the audio track, and select No Audio…

Adding visualizations to an audio file

Freemake also allows you to add a visualization to an audio file. You can choose from a number of interesting animations to add visual appeal to your audio file. The result is an animated video file that combines the music and the visualization.
  1. Click the +Audio button at the top of the page. Now you can choose an audio file to add to your visualization.
  2. Browse to the directory where your audio file is saved, then click the file name and click Open.
  3. Click the Play Audio icon on the right side of the page.

    The Audio Playback window will appear.
  4. Click the Pinwheel button at the bottom of the window.

    Thumbnails of the available visualizations will appear.
  5. Click on the thumbnail of the visualization you want to add to your slideshow, then click OK.
  6. Play your file to hear the audio and watch the visualization: Click the Play Slideshow icon on the right side of the page.

Creating and Saving an Audio Project

Freemake allows you to create an audio project, combining two or more audio files into a single file. These steps don't involve slideshows, photos, or videos at all. The end result is a single audio file in your choice of formats.

  1. To add your first audio file, click the +Audio button at the top of the page. Now you can choose an audio file to add.
  2. Browse to the directory where your audio file is saved, then click the file name and click Open.
  3. Repeat the steps above for each audio file you want to add to your project.
  4. Click the Join Files switch in the top-right of the window to turn this setting on.
  5. The audio files added will appear indented beneath a new file that combines them. By default, this file will have the same name as the first audio file added.
  6. You can optionally change the name of this project file by clicking the pencil to the left of the file name. Type your preferred filename.
  7. Choose the file format you want to save to, and click the corresponding button at the bottom of the window. Scroll left or right to see more buttons.

  8. Click save and name your file.
